Française des Jeux rider Aurélien Duval has been provisionally suspended by the UCI following a positive test for norfenfluramine.
The result, announced as an "Adverse Analytical Finding" by the sport's governing body, comes from a test taken on October 1 at the Circuit Franco-Belge.
Norfenfluramine is a banned stimulant.
A first-year professional on the road with the French ProTour team, Duval previously enjoyed success on the junior and U23 cyclo-cross circuit.
The French national U23 champion in 2008, he also claimed silver medals in U23 World and European cyclo-cross championships.
21-year-old Duval is permitted to request the testing of his B-sample.
