Garmin team manager Jonathan Vaughters has denied reports in French newspaper L'Equipe that Bradley Wiggins has been allowed to sign with Team Sky for 2010.

L'Equipe reported in their print edition and on its website on Saturday that Garmin had allowed Wiggins to leave the team and move to Team Sky. L'Equipe did not quote any official source but when contacted by Cycling Weekly, a journalist from the paper said it came from a trusted source.

Jonathan Vaughters has always insisted that Wiggins is under contract with Garmin for 2010 and dismissed the L'Equipe story when contacted via email by Cycling Weekly.

"Brad has a contract for 2010. That is my statement. If they have such a great source, they should reveal him/her," Vaughters told Cycling Weekly.

Cycling Weekly contacted Wiggins but he also refused to comment.

Team Sky staff gathered in Manchester today to begin the team's first get together ready for the 2010 season.

Team Sky principal Dave Brailsford has made it clear he would love to have Wiggins in the team and the current Team Sky line-up lacks a Tour de France leader and overall contender.

When contacted by Cycling Weekly, team spokesman Brian Nygaard said the Team Sky had no comment to make on the L'Equipe report.
