No. 14 Geraint Thomas
Last year's position: 12th
Geraint Thomas is a huge talent. He's still only 23 but next season - his first with Team Sky - will be his fourth full season as a professional on the road.
Although his 2009 season was hampered by a crash in the Tirreno-Adriatico time trial. He suffered a cracked pelvis and missed the Giro d'Italia.
With Barloworld missing the Tour de France, it meant a very, very light programme of racing on the road.
Fifth place at the Coppa Bernocchi in August and sixth overall at the Tour of Britain showed that Thomas had been able to return to good condition despite such a lack of racing with Barloworld.
Thomas's form was confirmed with victory in the individual pursuit at the National Championships. At the World Cup in Manchester, Thomas rode the third-fastest 4,000-metre individual pursuit of all-time. Only Chris Boardman has gone quicker.
The 2010 season represents the first opportunity for Thomas to ride a full, properly-structured programme on the road. Don't be surprised if the Welsh rider enjoys a significant breakthrough.
