British riders Roger Hammond and Jeremy Hunt have been selected for Cervelo Test Team's Milan-San Remo line-up for Saturday's Spring Classics season opener.

The British duo will support team leader Thor Hushovd after the squad's Heinrich Haussler was sidelined with a persistent knee injury resulting from a crash during the Tour of the Algarve.

Haussler, who placed second at Milan-San Remo last year in a nail-biting photo-finish with winner Mark Cavendish, withdrew from Paris-Nice last week due to knee pain.

Hammond, Hunt and Hushovd are currently riding in Tirreno-Adriatico, where many of the Milan-San Remo hopefuls are warming up for the big day on Saturday.

"Heinrich is currently receiving intensive treatment from our medical team so he will recover as soon as possible to be ready for the upcoming Belgian classics," said Cervelo directeur sportif Jean-Paul van Poppel.

"Thor, who proved at Tirreno-Adriatico that he is in good form now after a difficult season start, will be our team leader in Milan-San Remo."

Cervelo's squad for Milan-San Remo consists of: Thor Hushovd (Norway), Xavier Florencio (Spain), Roger Hammond (Great Britain), Jeremy Hunt (Great Britain), Andreas Klier (Germany), Brett Lancaster (Australia), Gabriel Rasch (Norway) and Dominique Rollin (Canada).
