After puncturing and failing to finish the last round, former series winner Michael Hutchinson (In Gear-Quickvit RT) secured his first win in the RTTC-Rudy Project Time Trial Series in Cumbria on Sunday.

Hutchinson, who last won the series five years ago, covered the 31.2-mile two-lap version of the course around Bassenthwaite Lake in 1-05-03 to win by 1-47 from I Ride RT's Matt Bottrill, who had won the first two national rounds of the series.

And while Chippenham & District Wheelers' Jeff Jones took third spot, defending series champion Dean Robson (Somerset Road Club) was left to rue his luck with a puncture causing him to pull out on the second lap.

Cult Racing rider Michelle King won the women's one-lap event by just mover a minute from Reading CC rival Trudi Sammons, while King's team-mate Jane Kilmartin took third.

And in the junior event, I Ride RT's Alex Royle from Stockport proved a convincing winner, the 16-year-old clocking 33-55 to win by 41 seconds from 18-year-old Jack Green (VC St Raphael).

Ian Cooke (Team Swift-Allsports) was fastest of the veterans in 33-49, although best on target time was Born 2 Bike's former British Best All-Rounder Carole Gandy, whose time of 39-35 gave her a plus of 8-10.
