Alex Dowsett in break, Tour of Oman 2010, stage 2

Fresh from his recent win in the European under-23 time trial championships, Britain's Alex Dowsett soloed to win the fifth and final day of the Cascade Cycling Classic in the USA on Sunday.

The 21-year-old Trek-Livestrong rider broke free from the bunch with a late attack on the 133.6km stage, and kept the peloton at bay to take the win.

Dowsett only returned to top-level competition at the Euro TT champs in Turkey on July 16 after being sidelined with a scapula break sustained in May. 

Dowsett is hoping to join Team GB at the Tour de l'Avenir stage race in France in September (5-12) and then compete in the World Championships in Melbourne, Australia (September 29-October 3), and the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India (October 3-14). 

Rory Sutherland (UnitedHealthcare) won the five-stage Cascade Cycling Classic, which ran from July 20-25 in Bend, Oregon.
