Wiggins returns to action at the Grand Prix Plouay
Team Sky latest news
Bradley Wiggins returns to racing for the first time since the Tour de France when he lines up at the Grand Prix Ouest France-Plouay on Sunday.
After finishing 24th in the Tour, Wiggins said he would be taking a break from racing and hinted he would not return until the Tour of Britain in September.
But when Team Sky first released its rosters for August, Wiggins was named in the line-up for the Tour of Limousin in France, then he switched to ride the Eneco Tour in Belgium and Holland. However, he withdrew from the line-up shortly before the start after a bereavement in the family.
Wiggins now steps in to replace Chris Froome in the GP Plouay line-up. Meanwhile Russell Downing replaces John-Lee Augustyn also. The full team will be Sylvain Calzati, Steve Cummings, Downing, Simon Gerrans, Serge Pauwels, Nicolas Portal, Morris Possoni and Wiggins.
