Trek Bicycle and the Schleck brothers' Luxembourg Pro Cycling Team Project have announced a partnership starting in 2011.

American company Trek will be the official equipment supplier and technical advisor to the new Luxembourg-registered squad, which will feature Tour runner-up Andy Schleck and his brother Frank, both of whom currently ride for the Saxo Bank team.

Luxembourg team director Kim Anderson commented: "We looked at a number of equipment suppliers, but our goals are to win the Tour de France and be the number one team in the World. Trek has the best equipment, along with more experience and expertise to help make that happen."

The Luxembourg team will use Trek Madone road and Speed Concept time trial bikes equipped with Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 electronic groupsets. The team will also wear Bontrager helmets - Bontrager is part of the Trek family of brands.

Trek currently provide bikes to the US-based RadioShack squad, and that relationship will continue for 2011.

The Luxembourg Pro Cycling Team Project is the unwieldy working title for the team, and a title sponsor will be announced in the coming weeks. The team's full roster will be declared in October.

The squad has submitted an application for a ProTour licence to the sport's govering body, the Union Cycliste Internationale.
