Robinson wins penultimate Rudy Project TT
In-form Leslie Bike Shop rider Alistair Robinson won the penultimate round of the Rudy Project Time Trial Series, the Tour de Trossachs, in his native Scotland on Sunday.
Robinson clocked 1-07-23 to win the 28.5-mile event by 49 seconds from Stirling Bike Club's Robin Wilkins, a result that will boost his hopes of a good overall finish to the series.
Despite now only having ridden two of a possible five counting events, Robinson should have catapulted himself into the top 15 with his victory on Sunday, alongside the second place he took in the sixth round in North Yorkshire a fortnight ago.
Like much of the country, the event was run off in wet conditions and on a course with many twisty bends which required good bike-handling skills.
Veteran James Cusick (Glasgow Couriers) completed the podium with third spot, around 2-15 behind Robinson, while Sandy Wallace Cycles' Mari Todd was fastest of the women with 1-15-29 in an event which was dominated by Scottish riders with few of the usual English competitors travelling north of the border - including series winner Matt Bottrill who opted to ride at Blenheim Palace instead.
One exception was junior series leader Jack Green (VC St Raphael) who settled for third spot, 3-40 behind Team Leslie Bike Shop's Matthew Hamilton.
The Series will now return to England for the final round in two weeks, at Middleton in Northamptonshire.
