Ian Bibby Career Profile
Ian Bibby is an ex-mountain biker and national cyclo-cross champion who has recently emerged as an exciting young talent on the national road racing scene.

He originally made his name with a series of mountain biking and cyclo-cross successes at Junior and U23 level. In 2009 he signed for the Halford's team, doing half the year mountain biking and half on the road. Although the road wins were not plentiful that season, it was enough to convince him to devote himself to the road the next year.

2010 was really the year of Bibby's emergence. Riding for Motorpoint Marshall's Pasta, he achieved a series of great results, mixing it with the best of British cycling and winning a couple of Tour Series events.

What is more, despite taking it easy for the 2009/10 cyclo-cross season he won the National Championships in February, albeit helped by perfect conditions and a course that didn't punish his focus on road training.

He has been lined up as one of the leaders of the Motorpoint team for the 2011 season.

I have rated this article 5/5 because it is good to see our domestic riders getting recognition, however the article has one glaring omission that I am aware of and that is Bibby's memorable second place finish on stage 3 of the Tour of Britain last year. To get over Black Mountain and climb with the best up Constitition Hill in such awful weather shows just the huge potential that the Motorpoint team have on their hands. I hope 2011 is at least as successful for the Preston lad, which hopefully it should be with the strengthened line-up. Could he add the national road race championships to his palmares in the future?
