After yesterday's pancake-like parcours, climbs a plenty await the riders on stage eight, as the race reaches the Massif Central.
Preceding the finish at the top of the third-category ski resort of Super Besse are two fourth category climbs and the second-cat Col de la Croix Saint-Robert.
The 11km drag into the finish shouldn't pose any problems for the GC contenders, who could decide to save themselves for the fast-approaching Pyrenean peaks.
