STAGE 10
Date: Tuesday, July 12 2011
From/to: Aurillac to Carmaux
Distance: 158km
Type: Hilly
Impact on jerseys
Yellow 1/5
Green 1/5
Polka dot 3/5
With the first mountain-top finish just 48 hours away, stage 10 could well be an opportunist's paradise.
The Tour hits the Cévennes, a southern-central mountain range, but the four climbs dotted towards the second half of the route are neither long nor steep.
However, the Côte de Mirandol-Bourgnounac, the fourth-category hill that comes 15km from Carmaux, could be too much for some of the sprinters to get over, thus producing an unpredictable end to proceedings.
