Star-studded line-up at 'best ever' Revolution track event
Tom Murray in action, Revolution 33, October 29 2011
The starting line-up for Saturday's Revolution track meet at Manchester velodrome is possibly the most star-studded field the event has ever had in its eight-year history.
Road race world champion, Tour de France green jersey winner and all-round winning machine Mark Cavendish makes his return to the boards at the event. Cavendish rides on the Howies team with Andy Fenn and Jon Mould.
Cavendish will come up against a strong trio of his future Sky team-mates: British time trial champion Alex Dowsett, Olympic team pursuit champion Geraint Thomas and European team pursuit champion Peter Kennaugh.
Meanwhile, the UK Youth team benefits from the firepower of Swedish 2004 Paris-Roubaix winner Magnus Backstedt. He is accompanied on the squad by Olympic pursuit bronze medallist Steven Burke and 19-year-old talent James Lowsley Williams.
Olympic team pursuit champion and European Omnium champion Ed Clancy joins forces with Swiss six-day legend Franco Marvulli and Andy Tennant on the Rapha-Condor-Sharp team.
The senior races are supported by a full programme of Future Stars events, where young riders get the chance to race on the boards in front of a packed audience.
With such a strong line-up in attendance, it's no surprise that the event is a complete sell-out. For those that missed out on getting a ticket, highlights of the racing will be broadcast on ITV4 at 7pm on Monday, November 21.
The full start list for Saturday's event is available on the Revolution website.
