Full strength GB squad for London World Cup

British Cycling today named a full-strength team for next month's London World Cup, the first competitive event at the new Olympic Velodrome in Stratford.

There are no surprises among the 16-rider squad, particularly as sprint coach Iain Dyer confirmed last week that Ross Edgar will ride in the ‘man one' position in the team sprint along with Jason Kenny and Sir Chris Hoy.

Matt Crampton, who rode with the pair in Saturday's Revolution meeting will also be competing in London, albeit representing Sky Track Cycling.

All eyes will be on the endurance riders, particularly with both male and female team pursuit squads. Wendy Houvenaghel, Dani King and Laura Trott are the reigning world champions in the event, but have Jo Rowsell snapping at their heels.

Meanwhile selection for the men's team for the Olympics seems too tight to call, although Sam Harrison's non-selection suggests his outside chances of riding the Games are over.

Speaking to Cycling Weekly at the Revolution season finale on Saturday night, sprint world champion Jason Kenny said: "We're going to London to win. It's an important stepping stone towards the Olympics although it's not the end of the world if you don't.

"It will be nice to turn up there with the form to get stuck into the racing.  Every race is as important as each other now," Kenny added.
