Rogers replaces Knees in Sky's San Remo line-up

Michael Rogers in the escape, Tour Down Under 2011, stage five

Australian Michael Rogers will replace Christian Knees in Sky's line-up for Milan-San Remo this Saturday, March 17.

There was some confusion over the exact Milan-San Remo roster for Sky after the official start list was published with Bradley Wiggins in place of Knees, who has withdrawn due to illness.

Paris-Nice winner Wiggins, however, will not be starting the race. His next scheduled event in the Tour of Catalonia, Spain, over March 19-25.

Sky is aiming for victory at Milan-San Remo with two options: world champion Mark Cavendish or Norwegian Edvald Boasson Hagen.

Team Sky: Milan-San Remo 2012

Edvald Boasson Hagen, Mark Cavendish, Bernhard Eisel, Mathew Hayman, Jeremy Hunt, Thomas Löfkvist, Michael Rogers, Ian Stannard

Nigel Wynn worked as associate editor on CyclingWeekly.com, he worked almost single-handedly on the Cycling Weekly website in its early days. His passion for cycling, his writing and his creativity, as well as his hard work and dedication, were the original driving force behind the website’s success. Without him, CyclingWeekly.com would certainly not exist on the size and scale that it enjoys today. Nigel sadly passed away, following a brave battle with a cancer-related illness, in 2018. He was a highly valued colleague, and more importantly, an exceptional person to work with - his presence is sorely missed.
