Although categorised as 'flat', today's stage actually drops more than 900 metres over its 149 kilometres giving the riders something of a respite between the high mountains stages.
Whether there will be any sprinters left in the race to contest the finish in Vedelago remains to be seen, but a bunch finish of some sort is almost guaranteed.
