Can you help save Bradley's ass?
Wiggins the donkey
Have you heard the one about a donkey called Wiggins? No, this is no joke.
The poor animal was found abandoned, lonely and distressed and in need of a little bit of loving care when he was rescued by the Redwings horse sanctuary in Norfolk in early August.
"We wondered what to call him," said a Redwings spokesperson. "Bradley Wiggins was all over the newspapers after winning the Tour de France, so it had to be Wiggins."
But they didn't explain this in their recent newsletter in which they appeal for people to ‘adopt' Wiggins. However, a bit of detective work - a telephone call - by a Cycling Weekly scribe broke the story of how Bradley Wiggins came to have a four-legged namesake.
Wiggins now has a donkey friend, Wacko, who arrived at about the same time, joining about 50 donkeys and over 1,200 horses in Redwings care.
You can donate as little as £12.50 to provide food and shelter for Wiggins. Or you can simply send a donation, by calling Redwings on 01508 481000.
