Tour of Britain 2013: Stage two info
Tour of Britain
When Monday September 16
The second stage of the race sees the peloton swap Scotland for England, and although the start city of Carlisle sits on the path of Hadrian's Wall, the riders are unlikely to be troubled by and barbarians this time round.
Upon leaving the start, the race heads into the Lake District, where a number of climbs dot the route. The most difficult of these will be the Honister Pass, the steep gradients of which (25 per cent in places) have seen it deemed a category one climb.
From here the peloton travel towards the finish in Kendal, a market town recently named the second best place to live in the UK. After this arduous day in the saddle, the riders are likely to find it rather agreeable, too.
