Double Olympic and World track champion Laura Trott secured victory in the IG London Nocturne on Saturday night, edging to victory ahead of her rivals at a thrilling night of racing around Smithfield market.

Trott (Wiggle Honda) was just inches clear of rival Hannah Barnes (MG Maxifuel) in the sprint for the line, with a photo finish needed to split the riders, while Trott's team-mate Dani King took third, a second further back.

And victory in the elite men's race went to Team Raleigh's Tom Scully, again in a dramatic sprint finish where he held off Alex Dowsett (Movistar) and Dean Downing (Madison Genesis).

In Cumbria, Kuota-Spinergy rider Chris Lawless was crowned the National Junior Road Race Champion after winning the 70-mile race around Penrith.

The 17-year-old from Wigan was four seconds ahead of RST Racing rider Gabz Cullaigh, while Tao Geoghegan Hart (CC Hackney) completed the podium in third.

The Hillingdon Grand Prix in London saw Emily Kay (Scott Contessa-Epic) win the 50-kilometre women's race, which was part of the women's National Road Race Series, by just a few inches from High Wycombe CC's Clemence Copie.

Third spot was enough for Charline Joiner (MG Maxifuel) to retain the overall series lead.

In the men's race, Marcin Bialoblocki led UK Youth to a clean sweep of the podium. The Pole was around a minute clear of team-mates Rob Partridge and Ian Wilkinson in second and third respectively.

Dream Cycling's Rob Yeatman took a narrow victory in the John Andrews Memorial in Somerset on Sunday, the 19-year-old edging to victory ahead of Sam Humphrey (VC St Raphael) at the end of the 65-mile race. Oscar Hutchings (Exeter University CC) took third, having formed part of the race-winning three-rider break.

In Hertfordshire, Finchley RT's Steve Nunn was celebrating victory in the Paul Simon Homes Road Race at Whitwell.

Nunn formed a two-man break with team-mate Vince Devine, but they were clawed back as they hurtled towards the finish line. Nunn held on for the win, while Devine had to settle for third with Joe Higgins (PCH) snatching second.

WyndyMilla rider Steve Young won the EMEG Road Race in Nottinghamshire on Sunday, clinching his second victory of the season by two bike lengths from Jack Green (VC St Raphael). The pair were joined by Jason Gurney (Twenty 3C) in a late break which went clear with four miles remaining of the course at Willoughby-on-the-Wolds.

In West Yorkshire, Giles Drake (Herbalife-Leisure Lakes) took overall victory in the Holme Valley Wheelers two-day near Huddersfield, despite not winning any of the three stages.

He placed second on the opening road stage as well as the 10-mile time trial that formed stage two.

Sixth spot on the final stage three was enough to give him overall victory by 52 seconds from Hope Factory Racing rival James Gullen, while Alistair Rutherford (Wheelbase) took third, another 50 seconds back.

And in Suffolk, Tom Neale (Spalding CC) did just enough to hold off MG Maxifuel rider Jamie Caldwell by a second to take victory in the fourth round of the Elveden Races, while VC Norwich rider Glyndwr Thomas was third.
