Police still searching for missing cyclist in Northern Ireland
A cyclist who went missing on a training ride in Country Antrim, Northern Ireland, on New Year's Day has still not been found. Police have now widened their search for him, but have been hampered by galeforce winds.
Samuel Campbell embarked on a regular training ride on Sunday, January 1, from his home in Kells but failed to return home. His bicycle was found on Tuesday, leaning against a wall.
Efforts by coastguard, police, mountain rescue and RNLI has been hampered by severe weather conditions, as they have attempted to conduct searches along the coast in the Ballymena area.
Campbell, 49, was on a dark coloured road bike, and wearing a red and black long-sleeved top branded TCG, black tights, a dark grey hat and cycling glasses when he went missing. He is six feet tall and has dark hair.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen Campbell on Sunday, January 1. They are also interested in hearing from anyone cycling in the area on that day wearing similar clothes so that they can eliminate them from their inquiries. The police can be contacted on 0845 600 8000.

Nigel Wynn worked as associate editor on CyclingWeekly.com, he worked almost single-handedly on the Cycling Weekly website in its early days. His passion for cycling, his writing and his creativity, as well as his hard work and dedication, were the original driving force behind the website’s success. Without him, CyclingWeekly.com would certainly not exist on the size and scale that it enjoys today. Nigel sadly passed away, following a brave battle with a cancer-related illness, in 2018. He was a highly valued colleague, and more importantly, an exceptional person to work with - his presence is sorely missed.
