Alloy bike priced from £799 is designed to do it all and can be customised using Ribble’s bike builder

Ribble says that its new CGR is its most versatile bike to date. It follows the trend for go-anywhere dropped bar bikes with lots of clearance and versatility built in.

At its heart is a lightweight alloy frame, which Ribble says has been designed for a clean look but also to increase weld surface in key areas which influence robustness and power delivery, such as the bottom bracket.

It says that the tapered, curved top tube and compact geometry also help provide a bit more flex in the parts of the frame which influence rider comfort, allowing more seatpost extension for vibration damping.

Ribble says that the CGR will take tyres up to 35mm width or 28mm tyres with mudguards. In addition, there are rack and mudguard mounts, so you can use the bike for commuting duties or as a light tourer, while the neon yellow-painted frame adds a bit of extra visibility.

As is usual in machines designed for multiple surfaces, the CGR is equipped to take disc brakes. The base spec includes Shimano mechanical calipers, although you can specify 105 or Ultegra hydraulic options as an upgrade.

Prices for the CGR start at £799, with Ribble’s on-line bike builder app allowing you to customise the build to your own specification and requirements.

The base specification includes Shimano Sora nine speed shifting with an 11-34 cassette and 50/34 compact chainset, Rodi Airline disc brake wheels, Shimano R317 mechanical disc brakes, Deda components, Continental Ultra Sport II tyres and Zefal mudguards.

The CGR comes in five frame sizes from 44cm up to 58cm.
