SRAM launches 11-speed Rival 22 drivetrain

In the race to be the first to bring 11-speed to the whole market, SRAM is bursting from the pack with a double whammy. Its Rival groupset gets the 22-speed treatment, introduced last year to its Red and Force groupsets, but simultaneously attacks on the other side of the road with an update on pricing that makes the groupset even more competitive.

Here at Cycling Weekly we’ve always been super-impressed with the Yaw front mech and it’s great to see it come down another step in the range, bringing with it the ability to have one-click shifting for the chainset.

SRAM is really keen to impress that Rival 22 isn’t simply a detuned race groupset, it sees that as not being quite right for the primary customer. For this reason, it has made sure that a wide range of options are available.

So you can choose from three different ways of stopping your bike: hydraulic rim calipers, disc brakes or conventional cable-operated rim brakes.

Two lengths of rear derailleur are available to cover the three cassette options of 11-26, 11-28 or 11-32, these cassettes can be used with the three front ring pairings.
