German firm Abus is going to take over as helmet provider to Movistar team from Catlike, making those iconic shots of Nairo Quintana in his distinctive Swiss-cheese lid a thing of the past. While Shimano will clothe the LottoNL-Jumbo team from 2017.

More new app functionality

We reported that Strava’s clubs functionality is now available on your mobile. So if you get fed up with your buddies while you are out riding you can now swipe them left and start the search for new partners immediately. Actually, we don’t think it works like that but it would be a neat idea for an upgrade.

It might be worth sticking with the guys though, if you’ve enrolled in the new My Money Time app. This rewards you for exercising, linking not just to Strava but to other fitness trackers. You rack up cash rewards which can be exchanged for money off products from retailers including Oakley and The North Face.

Yes, it’s finally that time of year when at least it’s a bit lighter when you push off for your Sunday morning run, even if you have to dash home by mid-afternoon to get back before the light fails.
