FDJ's Lapierre Xelius EFI
FDJ Lapierre Xelius EFI
It's not immediately obvious but Lapierre has obviously spent a fair bit of time working on the Xelius for the FDJ team, as there are a number of clever little tweaks to try and cut wind resistance from the frame.
The most obvious, and one we've not seen before, is the mounting of the battery on the bottle bracket. Rather than mounting it in line, the factory has made the team a number of 90° mounts to mount the battery horizontally to reduce drag.
A new version of the frame is expected for the Classics; 11-speed specific, it'll have the battery housed in the seat tube and secured through the seat tube bottle-cage bolts.
Minimal changes but maximum attention to detail. Even then entry points for mechanical gear cables have been blanked off with neat caps to smooth airflow. Cheap but effective.
