We were particularly keen to see the latest offering from POC and the Octal Aero. After making a huge statement with its last aero hat, the Tempor, at the London Olympics with the Swedish team, we weren't exactly dazzled by the styling. However, this is much better.
We also saw updated versions of Mavic top-end road shoes: the Mavic Huez and Mavic Zxellium SLR. And Pearl Izumi step into the high-end market with the Pro Leader.
Latest brand to join the aero helmet arms race is POC. It's Octal Aero is based on Octal road helmet and will possibly be seen on top of Team Garmin next year.
Mavic's Zxellium range gains a new model in the form of the SLR. The foot cage on top ot the mesh is now full carbon to match the sole and saves 5g's over the Ultimate.
The Huez also loses weight. The 2014 version now uses carbon rather than TPU for the upper cage, making 5g lighter than last year's model, and according to Mavic the lightest road shoe on the market at 195g.
Pearl Izumi - Pro Leader. The one-piece upper is now PI's top-of-the-range shoe. Hopefully it will come in a couple of colour options as anyone who can ride in red shoes deserves a medal in our books. The flicking of colour per pedal rev would be too much for us.
