Matt Bottrill takes a minute off Rugby RCC 10-mile time trial course record

Just one week before the National 25-mile Championship, Matt Bottrill (Drag2zero.com) underlined his great form when he sliced more than a minute off his own course record when he won the Rugby RCC 10 on Saturday.

Bottrill clocked 18-25 for the K11/10T course near Thurlaston, taking 1-05 off his own record and winning by 25 seconds from Matt Clinton, the Mike Vaughan Cycles rider who will also line-up at the National Championships.

Another Drag2zero rider, veteran Jon Simpkins, took third with 19-46, while fastest female was Liz Powell (Mike Vaughan Cycles) with 22-15.

In Yorkshire, Mark Arnold (CC Desireagear) won the National 12-Hour Championships near Pocklington, covering 299.03 miles to win by almost 16 miles from Mark Turnbull (Torq Performance). Paula Moseley (Climb on Bikes) was best female with 262.7 miles.

In Wales, National Under-23 time trial champion Scott Davies (Towy Racing CC) set a new Welsh competition record and course record when he won the Realteam.co.uk 10 in a time of 18-55.

Just days before he competes for Wales at the Commonwealth Games, Davies took the win on the R10/17 course near Abergavenny by almost a minute, with Kieron Davies (Team MBCC) taking second with 19-42.

Matt Postle (Bush Healthcare CRT) was third with 20-12, while his team-mate Susan Shook was top woman with 22-42.

Andrew Leggett (Stowmarket and District CC) won the Colchester Rovers 47-mile event at Peldon in Essex, clocking 1-52-33 to win by 44 seconds from Luke Walton (East London Velo).

Another East London Velo rider, Rob Chaplin was third with 1-53-46, while fastest woman was Ann Shuttleworth (Chelmer CC) with 2-14-50 which gave her 23rd overall.

In Merseyside, Warren Gell (CoverYourCar.co.uk) won the Southport CC 25 by more than a minute. He clocked 55-27 on the D25/3 at Melling, while second-placed Ewan Farrow (Ilkley CC) was 1-05 behind.

David Kinloch (PH Mas Cycling) was third with 56-42, while fastest of the women was Nikola Butler (Pearl Izumi) with 1-00-58 and 19th overall.

And in County Durham, Keith Murray (Ferryhill Wheelers) clocked 20-05 to win the Hartlepool CC 10 on the T1056 at Sedgefield. That gave him victory by 40 seconds over Shaun Tyson (Adept Precision RT), with Lee McDermott (Wansbeck CC) third with 21-16.

Ewan Taylor (Perth United CC) won the Coffee Pot 50 in Scotland, covering the course at Fordoun in Kincardineshire in 1-54-00.

Second spot went to Philip Kelman (Deeside Thistle CC), 54 seconds down, while Lee Smith (Aberdeen Wheelers) was third, more than two minutes off the pace.

Rob Pears (Pro Cycling) took the win in the rescheduled Bristol South CC 10, clocking 20-12 to win by 11 seconds from Ben Anstie (Cadence RT) with Matt Burden (Severbn RC) third with 20-41.
