Josh Edmondson may not have emerged from his first stint in the WorldTour with much confidence, but the 23-year-old former Team Sky rider is sure he can get back to the highest level.

Injuries played a part in Edmondson's release from Sky after the 2014 season, but the Leeds rider admitted there was a bit of a clash in personalities at the time.

Since departing Sky, Edmondson has got his career back on track at An Post Chain Reaction and more recently NFTO and hopes to impress enough to move back up the levels once more.

“I still feel there’s a grand tour team out there for me,” Edmondson told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“This year I want to prove that I’m much more capable now than I was back then, that I’m a better rider.

“I feel as though I’m improving each year. I’m still only 23, so I’m far from past it. I’ve been getting better every year and this year I’m stronger than ever.

“I just love racing, and what happened at Sky drives me on.”

Edmondson went on to say that his main goal this year is to compete well at the National Championships road race in Stockton-on-Tees on June 26, also targeting a ride at the Tour of Britain in September.
