Team Sky leader Mikel Landa has set himself modest goals for this week's Giro del Trentino, despite going in as one of the favourites for the title.

Sky are one of three WorldTour teams on the start line in Italy but Landa says he's just setting out to finish get some good results and get to know his teammates better.

The 26-year-old enjoyed a mixed Tour of the Basque Country, winning stage two to take the leader's jersey, but finished over three minutes down on Alberto Contador by the final stage.

But Landa insists he's yet to reach top form ahead of his tilt at the Giro d'Italia, so results are less important than improving his fitness.

"Trentino has been a special race for me over the last few years," he told the Team Sky website. "I'm still not in my very peak condition, but I'm close to that, so I'll try and finish as high on the standings as I can and keep building my relations with my team-mates."

Landa is joined in the Giro del Trentino by Ian Boswell, Christian Knees, Philip Deignan, David Lopez, Gianni Moscon, Alex Peters and Xabier Zandio.
