Trek allow their fans to announce their Tour de France lineup on Twitter, with Fabian Cancellara and Bauke Mollema leading the team

Twitter seems to be the default way to announce anything these days - the birth of a royal baby, a footballer signing a new contract or even a Tour de France squad.

The standard procedure for announcing a squad for a race in recent years has been for the team to post a list of riders and a picture of all of them smiling at the camera.
