Olympic track sprint multi-champion Sir Chris Hoy has been signed up by sports nutrition brand Science in Sport as an offical brand ambassador.
As well as serving as a figurehead for the British brand, Hoy will work with SiS on their hydration and nutrition products.
“Nutrition plays a huge part in how well I do on the track, in the gym and out training on the roads so to be the best I can be, I need to use the best nutrition possible,” said Hoy.
“I have used SiS products for many years and I’m looking forward to working with them to further develop this area of my preparation and recovery. The credibility of the science and their innovative approach is the reason I chose to partner with Science in Sport. Working closely with SiS to manage my hydration and energy levels gives me confidence that my nutrition is tailored to my specific needs whether I am in training or competition.”
SiS has been something of a British success story. Founded in 1992, the company is currently official nutrition supplier to the Blanco, Astana and Katusha pro teams, and British squads Madison-Genesis and Rapha Condor JLT.
Hoy announced before the London 2012 Olympic Games that it would be his last, although he did not rule out representing Scotland in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow – in ‘his’ Sir Chris Hoy velodrome.
Hoy has won six Olympic gold medals in his career in four events: kilometre time trial (2004), keirin (2008 and 2012), sprint (2008) and team sprint (2008 and 2012).
Hoy also recently announced the introduction of a line of bikes that carry his name, available through national retailer Evans Cycles.
