Berkshire looks likely to be a good place to be if you’re looking for fast 50-mile times this weekend, with Reading CC staging an event on the H50/1a course near Aldermaston on Sunday.

Although there is not a full field for the 7am event, there is plenty of quality there with Chippenham & District Wheelers’ Jeff Jones and Charles McCulloch (Drag2Zero.com among the names likely to be pushing for the podium.

High Wycombe CC’s Adam Topham returns to defend his 2010 win in this event, while Sigma Sport’s Jerone Walters could also challenge for a result.

A non-finisher in last year’s Reading CC 50, Justyn Cannon (RAF CC) has opted to ride the Port Talbot Wheelers’ 50 this year, which is also the Welsh Championship.

None of last year’s top-three are in action this time, giving Cannon hope of firing his way to victory, but Merthyr CC’s Colin Wallace will prove no pushover.

Further North, some fast times could be recorded in North Yorkshire with Cleveland Wheelers staging their 50-mile event on the A19 from Crathorne to Kirklevington.

Former National Champion and multiple British Best All-Rounder, Kevin Dawson (Sportscover.com) is last man off, while others hoping to challenge him for victory include Team Swift pair Joel Wainman and Andy Jackson.

Some of the best veterans from across the country will be in action on Saturday in the VTTA National 25-Mile Championship at Newmarket, with a full field of 129 plus reserves set to tackle the A14 and A11 in Cambridgeshire (2pm start).

Several good teams will line up for the Manchester Wheelers three-up 50km event on Saturday, which uses the J8/20 course near Knutsford, with Allostock Village Hall as HQ.

Blackburn and District CTC include Chris Edmundson, Ian Stott and Carl Helliwell in their trio, while Fibrax Wrexham have Nick Giles, David Williams and David Crawley in their team.

Others to watch out for could include Seamons CC’s riders Dan Mathers, Paul McAllister and Martin Wiggan, while CoverYour Car.co.uk will be going for victory with Paul Shallicker, Gordon Leicester and David Burrows.
