A stiff headwind on the return leg from Welton ruled out hopes of any records in Saturday's Wolds RT 10-mile time trial - the event in which Michael Hutchinson set the current competition best two years ago.
Victory went to in-form Keith Murray (Ferryhill Wheelers), whose 19-14 gave him a winning margin of 21 seconds over Scott Walker (MG Decor) on the South Cave course, near Hull, with Andrew Green (Lutterworth Cycle Centre RT), 19-42, in third place. Fastest woman was first rider off, Kristina Slater (VTTA) in 22-10 and Declan Davies (CC Breckland), 21-31, led the juveniles.
Jon Simpkins (www.drag2zero.com) missed Matt Bottrill's record for the Princethorpe course, in Warwickshire, by 12 seconds as he won Rugby RCC's 10 in 19-42 ahead of Peter Weir (Banjo Cycvles.com), 20-08.
Roadman Simon Wilson (Metaltek-Scott) also dipped under 20 minutes with a winning 19-54 in Lancashire RC's ‘10' at Levens, in Cumbria, for a margin of ten seconds over second-placed Tony Greenhalgh (Wheelbase-MGD).
Keiron Davies (Bynea CC) collected two course records in Pembrokeshire Velo's time trial weekend.
The Carmarthen 25-year-old clocked 20-54 to post a new best for the Sageston-based 10-mile course, scoring a clear win over Ben Simmons (Team Wiggle), 21-38, and followed up with a winning 32-14 to set new figures for the extended 15-mile course.
Simmons again settled for second place in 33-26, but won the 1.3-mile hill climb at Carew in 4-01.11 to take the overall honours for the weekend ahead of Chris Lee (Merthyr CC).
Simon Bridge (Manchester Wheelers) continued in winning ways in Cheshire RC's 50-mile event at Cranage, clocking 1-45-52 for a decisive victory ahead of Charles Taylor (South Pennine RC), 1-49-26, and Neil Skellern (Team Swift), 1-53-25.
Andy Fuller (GS Metro) led a one-two for his team in the Ferryhill Wheelers 10 at Sedgefield, in County Durham. His 20-58 put him clear of Simon Clark, 21-40, with Ben Hetherington of the promoting club four seconds further back in third.
A tough headwind return leg put the brakes on in Gloucester City CC's 10 at Falfield - Robin Comber (Cadence RT) posting a creditable 21-01 to win by 53 seconds from Lyn Jones (Club EC Cycles).
Nigel Haigh (Sportscover Altura RT) covered the Hatfield Woodhouse course, in South Yorkshire, in 54-04 to win Sheffrec CC's 25 by over a minute from event organiser Rob Townsend (Langsett Cycles RT), 55-12.
Melton Olympic CC's 25 was abandoned after an accident on the Long Bennington course involving Tony Fox (Langdale Lightweights).

"A stiff headwind on the return leg from Welton ruled out hopes of any records in Saturday's Wolds RT 10-mile time trial" - NOT REALLY. Fiona Duncan and Lora Turnham, Ythan cc (+ GB Paralympic Team - Lora is blind and races in Vi category) missed a new Women's Competition Tandem 10 mile record by 7 seconds. A stunning ride I thought. Shame it might not get the recognition it deserves, given it was less than ideal conditions. Great event at the Wolds RT 10 though, nice people, nice location.

Another cyclist injured in a TT. Was a motor vehicle involved again with an uninjured driver? IF so it is time we really started pushing for justice and not just playing at it!
