While the domestic elite battled it out at the University of Lincoln Grand Prix, there was still plenty of racing all around the country for the other riders who were itching to compete.
In West Yorkshire, Sharlston was host to the John May Memorial and it was no surprise to see elite riders Tom Moses of Team Raleigh and Tom Bustard of Herbalife at the sharp end of things.
Halfway through, they dashed clear of the bunch and went on to open up a gap over their opponents.
Dave Shackleton of Wilsons Wheels RT tried to bridge the gap but he couldn't get across to the leaders and as the race concluded in a sprint finish between Bustard and Moses, it was the Team Raleigh man who had the legs to power across the line and take victory.
Andy Hastings said he was feeling in top form after his win in the Bob Whitear Memorial Road Race in Wicklewood, Norfolk and his dominance was there for all to see as the Finchley RT rider executed the perfect plan to breeze to a memorable win.
After attacking on the second lap, Hastings cut the bunch down to 13 with the breakaway opening up a 2:40 gap on the rest of the field.
He used the exact same section of track, a draggy climb with a head wind, to attack again and reduced the number to nine.
He continued to whittle the pack down until he was out on his own and he crossed the line a good two minutes ahead of anyone else.
Another man that got his tactics spot on was Hargroves Cycles' Joe Kirkham who used the final hill of the Steve Taylor Memorial Road Race to power clear of his rivals in Castlemorton, Worcestershire.
He was around 150 metres clear of teenager Joe Fox (MG Maxifuel) who passed Wayne Coombs (Winchcombe CC) just in time to take second place.
Paramount CRT veteran Mike Jones won the Wood and Loines Halesowen Road Race for the third time on Sunday, prevailing over Philip Mason (Climb on Bikes CC) and William Goldbourne (Team V-Sprint Racing).
The 46-year-old enjoyed back-to-back wins in 2010 and 2011 before losing out in 2012. But he showed that he still has the fight by returning to the circuit in Astley to once again tread the top step of the podium.
Jones wasn't the only old head using his experience to guide him to first place, 43-year-old Steve Stoneman (Bott CT) came through a sprint finish to cross the line first in the West Pennine RC Road Race in Clitheroe, Lancashire.
And the Tour of the Milburys, held in memory of Roy Ludford, saw Rob Sharland of Kingston Wheelers finish in first place overall after winning the road race and coming second to Rob Yeatman (Dream CC) in the time trial.
