Here we take a look back at the track record of the seven-time Tour de France winner, who won the race from 1999 to 2005.

the man has inspired millions to cycle and a multi million industry has him to thank in my opinion.... people say he doped? maybe so..? +-? but then all the other greats surely did too? in a country full of fat car drivers we need more role models like him. who`s next?

So the message is - there's nothing wrong with systematically cheating as long as you win a lot? However grateful the pharmaceutical industry might be, I wish he had ridden clean - in some respects he is a role model to people who think doping is okay as long as you don't get caught, and that winning is more important than sportsmanship. It goes without saying he was a great rider (and a world class wristband salesman). I watched this just to see the 2003 field detour again and remember the good old days when I could watch Lance ride without thinking he was a cheat.

I see your point.... but as yet `its innocent until proven guilty.` I, like alot of folk hope the success was in a clean fashion, although i have strong doubts! but unless YOU have access to all evidence and proof Jon you cannot assume guilt.
