When Sunday, September 22
The 2013 Tour of Britain returns to London for the final stage following its absence from last year’s edition.
It may not quite possess the same stature and heritage as the Tour de France’s final stage around Paris, but the capital’s famous landmarks that line the route – the Houses of Parliament and the Cenotaph to name two – are more than a match for its French equivalent.
Spectators will have the opportunity to see the riders multiple times, as the stage comprises 10 laps around a 8.8-kilometre circuit. Technically, it is not the most challenge of courses, with overshooting the right-hand turn into the finish straight the only notable difficulty along the route.
It is virtually flat throughout – save for a small drag up to the turn at Tower Hill – which means CW confidently predicts this will end in a bunch sprint, as it did when Mark Cavendish won here in the rain two years ago.
