With the domestic road racing scene stronger than it has been for several years, Cycling Weekly is delighted to announce the relaunch the Super Team Challenge – our competition designed to crown the most impressive squad over the course of the season.
We first ran the competition – which is open to all riders representing a British-based team or club in one of the events listed below – in 2008, and have updated it to take into account the busy calendar and importance and historical significance of events.
The competition’s points system is designed to reward winners, although teams that consistently place a number of riders in the top positions will be able to compete, ensuring a close battle in the standings. The points have also been weighted to reflect the relative difficulty and prestige, so victory in a Premier Calendar race over 90 or so miles scores more points than in an hour-long criterium.
The points scoring starts at the opening Premier Calendar round – the Dengie Marshes Tour – on April 1, and we will update the standings after each race, allowing the table toppers to gloat constantly on Twitter until the flag drops once again.
