Shimano has introduced new SH-R315 top level shoes for road racing as well as SH-M315 versions for mountain biking at last week’s Eurobike show in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
The important feature of both, according to Shimano, is the use of Rovenica© synthetic leather that is so fine, light and supple and yet so strong and shape-retentive that you gain the rigid upper stability you need for power and pure comfort for long distances.
Shimano claim the new synthetic material stretches like fine natural leather for an amazing fit, but it also has remarkable memory and strength that always brings the shoe back to its original shape.
Rovenica© combines perfectly with Shimano’s heat mouldable Custom-Fit technology that was designed for pro competition-level racers who demand maximum stability and power transfer.
Custom-Fit transforms the ride of enthusiasts at every level because everyone benefits from a perfect fitting shoe. It heats and moulds the upper panels, heel cups and insoles to perfectly match the shape of your foot.
SH-R315 is Shimano’s new top model SPD-SL shoe with a lightweight hollow channel sole of extremely rigid woven carbon fibre. It features multi-layered moisture control mesh and anti-slip heel lining, knitted with metal fibre. It has been designed with a low-profile micro-adjust buckle and dual off-set straps.
Weight is 523 g per pair and price will be £269.99 when they are available from November 2010. The price includes custom fitting at an approved Shimano shoe fitting dealership.
Yauheni Hutarovich (Francaise des Jeux) won the second stage of the Vuelta a Espana using this new model.
SH-M315 is Shimano’s new top model SPD shoe for mountain bikers with an ultra-rigid, long fibre carbon shank sole with tuned heel flex. Optional toe spikes increase traction in sand or loose dirt. It also features a low-profile micro-adjust buckle and dual off-set straps. An anti-slip heel lining knitted with metal fibre prevents heel lift. Weight is 686 g per pair.
