Advertising feature: We take a look through the growing range of HOY bikes available from Evans Cycles stores around the UK

Evans Cycles have been working with Sir Chris Hoy to create and promote HOY bikes since November 2012 and everyone involved was eager to spread the news when the range expanded to include kids bikes.

To celebrate the broadening of the range, which now caters for everyone from toddlers to teens and adults, Sir Chris and the Evans Cycles team headed out on tour.

The 2014 HOY Tour was a three day trip from Brighton, to London, Liverpool, Glasgow and Edinburgh, comprising of three open-to-all rides, three test track events, two evening Q+A sessions and an exclusive invitation only prize winners ride in Edinburgh.

At mini track events, children had the chance to test out the HOY bikes for themselves, and the inflatable test tracks were a popular attraction, despite a few very damp early summer days.

Every bike in the range was available for children to swing a leg over and peddle (or scoot, in the case of the runner) in a safe area designed just for them. Created with rider enjoyment, low weight, and durability at front of mind, the bikes got the thumbs up from their riders.

The line-up, which includes 4 models, each named after an area or place close to Sir Chris’ heart, begins with the Napier runner bike. Suitable for children from the age of two, a runner bike teaches them balance, coordination and control, ready for later riding as they get older.

For mini mountain bikers and explorers, the Bonaly bike is a go-anywhere ride that comes in 16”, 20” and 24”, whilst for those who love the road, the Cammo is where it’s at.

The Cammo road bike has drop handlebars and skinny tyres and gives future stars the opportunity to mirror their heroes of the road (even if that’s mum or dad), and it is available with 650c wheels, or in a 24” version.

With Sir Chris’ track career, the desire to set up the next generation of velodrome stars was too great to ignore, and the Meadowbank is perfect for the aspiring junior racer.

Named after the first velodrome Sir Chirs ever rode on, the track bike has been designed and specially adapted for aspiring champions from 7 to 12 years of age, and it’s available in 20”, 24” and 650c sizing.

Every bike in the HOY range carries the signature of the legend himself on the stem, and has been developed in collaboration between Evans Cycles’ in house bike designer, James Olsen, and Sir Chris.
