Bradley Wiggins’s transfer to his eponymous squad next month looks set to coincide with the World Time Trial Champion making his return to the British testing scene.

Speaking after his first win against the watch in the rainbow jersey at last week’s Three Days of De Panne, Wiggins said that he will be taking part in City RC Hull’s open 10-mile on the V718 course on May 16.

End of an era: How Wiggins and Sky created history

Fourteen of the 20 fastest times over this distance ever recorded in Britain have either been recorded on this route – which largely comprises of the A63 near South Cave – or the V718/1 course, that is identical for nearly nine of its 10 miles.

When contacted by Cycling Weekly about the possibility of Wiggins riding the event, a club spokesperson for the event said they “could not possibly comment”.

Furthermore, Wiggins’s potential participation in the event is believed to be part of a schedule that will see the 2011 National 10 winner compete in the British championships over both that distance, and 25 miles later this year [August 30 and 2, respectively].
