Range of races and events hosted by Brighton on Saturday, September 13

By Chris Marshall-Bell

Spectators watching the climax of stage seven of this year’s Tour of Britain can emulate Mark Cavendish and his sprint rivals throughout the day.

The route on Saturday, September 13, will take the riders 220km from Camberley to Brighton with the finishing line on the seafront.

In preparation for the arrival of the peloton from 3pm onwards, Thirty Sixty Sports Ltd have arranged a Brighton VeloCity ToB Support Event, where a series of rides for the community will take place on the finish straight and under the finishing line. Prizes have yet to be confirmed.

Competitive races for women and men on a criterium circuit will take place from 11.15 to 12pm and 12.35 to 1.30pm respectively.

A children’s race will take place between 10.30 and 11am, while a 1km unicycle competition will add colour to the seafront at 12.15pm. Winners of the unicycle competition will be made by judges assessing the riders’ costumes.

Competitors in the women’s and men’s 2/3 races can enter via the British Cycling website. For entries to the unicycling competition and for queries regarding accessibility and on the day viewing, email felix@threesixtysport.co.uk, or follow Three Sixty Sport Ltd on Twitter or Facebook.
