The Jupiter London Nocturne returns to the capital’s streets tomorrow night (Saturday, 7 June) with a stellar international field lining up alongside the national circuit’s elite.
Now in its eighth edition, there will be 12 races when the action gets underway at 4pm. The main attractions – the women’s and men’s criteriums begin at 8.50pm and 9.30pm respectively.
The 1.1km circuit takes in Smithfield Market and the thousands of spectators will be treated to not just Kristian House, Ed Clancy and Yanto Barker et al., but Garmin Sharp’s Tyler Farrar and Nathan Haas, both of whom competed in the Giro d’Italia. Team Sky are sending Josh Edmondson and Chris Sutton.
Racing under the lights, the riders will complete 50 minutes of the circuit plus five additional laps. The women’s crit – 30 minutes plus five laps – is spearheaded by Pearl Izumi Sports Tour’s Katie Archibald.
This time last year the race came under the spotlight when Hannah Barnes was crowned the winner a week later. Laura Trott had been promoted to first after race commissaries relegated the then MG-Maxifuel Barnes despite her crossing the line first. Team Raleigh’s Tom Skully was victorious in the men’s race.
The race is free to watch with a penny farthing race and Barclays cycle hire race on the bill also.
