Giro d’Italia 2012: Stage 19

When: Friday, May 25

From:
Treviso

To: Alpe di Pampeago/Val di Fiemme

Length: 198km

Category: High mountains

The penultimate mountain stage of the 2012 Giro is another big one. After the now customary flatish start, it’s up the third category Sella Di Roa as a warm-up for what lies ahead.

The 20.5-kilometre Passo Manghen is next on the menu, a gruelling ascent that will likely shell out any stragglers before the half-way mark.

Then it’s on to the first ascent of Passo Pampeago before emarking on a loop back to the climb for a mountain finish.

Tomorrow’s stage features a much longer climb to the line, so we may see the favourites holding back today for one final mountains assault tomorrow.
