2014 Giro d'Italia's stage 12 individual time trial now features Boscasso climb and 4.5km less riding
General classification riders and time trial specilists will now face a tougher but slightly shorter individual test against the clock on stage 12 of the 2014 Giro d’Italia.
Giro organiser RCS Sport unveiled the new stage 12 route on Monday, which now features the category four climb of Boscasso in the first half of its 41.9km length through picturesque vineyards – shortened from the originally announced route by 4.5km.
The stage starts from Barbaresco and rises for 12 kilometres to the peak of Boscasso before dropping down to Alba and a time check at 26.2km. After a relatively flat section, the riders then tackle the climb of Castiglione Falletto and a short, technical descent to the finish in Barolo.
The 2014 Giro d’Italia starts in Belfast on May 9 and concludes in Trieste on June 1.
