Thanks to a partnership between Giro d'Italia organisers RCS Sport and Velon, we are treated to some on-bike camera footage of a handful of stages in this year's race.

After Saturday's team time trial we got some great shots of Orica-GreenEdge's blistering win in San Remo, and again from Sunday's stage we have some shots of the peloton heading towards Genoa.

Unfortunately no-one with a camera on board was actually involved in the final sprint, which was won emphatically by Team Sky's Elia Viviani.

As such we are left with a bunch of shots of the peloton pootling (at 45kph) through the streets picturesque Italian streets, every now and again taking in a bit of a sharp corner.

Still, it's great to have this footage, which allows us mere mortals to imagine what it's like in a race peloton - the speeds involved and just how close the riders get to each other.

In the deal between RCS and Velon we won't see any footage from stage three, but we will welcome the cameras back for stage four to La Spezia.
