Pinarello has revealed its new Graal time trial bike, which will be used for the first time in Saturday’s Giro d’Italia time trial in Amsterdam.
Team Sky’s Bradley Wiggins will ride this Shimano-equipped Pinarello in red, white and blue to match his national champion’s skinsuit. Caisse d’Epargne’s Marzio Bruseghin will also be on a Graal.
The blurb from the Italian manufacturer says the bike combines the best of the Montello track frame and the Dogma road frame to ensure as much of the available power is transmitted to the pedals. According to Pinarello the wider angle on the seat tube and the vertical seat post help do this without compromising stability.
Bruseghin’s Graal will be fitted with Campagnolo Record but Wiggins has two versions – one with Shimano’s electric Di2 gears, another with the regular mechanical Dura-Ace. CW understands he will ride the mechanical gears in Saturday’s time trial.
