STAGE EIGHT

Date: Saturday, July 9 2011

From/to: Aigurande to Super-Besse Sancy

Distance: 189km

Type: Hilly

Impact on jerseys

Yellow 3/5

Green 1/5

Polka dot 3/5

After yesterday’s pancake-like parcours, climbs a plenty await the riders on stage eight, as the race reaches the Massif Central.

Preceding the finish at the top of the third-category ski resort of Super Besse are two fourth category climbs and the second-cat Col de la Croix Saint-Robert.

The 11km drag into the finish shouldn’t pose any problems for the GC contenders, who could decide to save themselves for the fast-approaching Pyrenean peaks.
