Tour de France 2014 stage 20 description, map and profile: Saturday July 26

When Saturday July 26
From Bergerac
To Périgueux
Length 54km
Category Individual time trial

Where are we?
The riders set off on ‘the race of truth’ from Bergerac in the direction of Périgueux, which is the préfecture — essentially the capital — of the Dordogne département.

What’s on the route?
It’s 54km of out-and-out, breakneck bike racing for those in the hunt for either the stage win or the yellow jersey. No climbs of note, no bonus seconds, just pure speed — that is, if they’ve got anything left in the tank.

What might happen?
Look for the usual time trial suspects, such as Tony Martin to push hard for the stage win. However, they will be riding against whomever the race leader is and they’re going to have their work cut out.

If you’re there
Before you leave town en route to Périgueux, take a selfie with each of the two statues of Cyrano de Bergerac.

Geography
We’re still in the Dordogne, in the west of France, around 100km inland from Bordeaux.
