Lance Armstrong’s decisive two days in 1999 (July 11 and 13)

1999, cancer survivor Lance Armstrong came back.

He secured the win of the prologue to wear the yellow jersey, then let it to Jan Kirsipuu but won it back in stage 8, a time-trial in Metz, and kept it, increasing his lead in the mountain stage between Le Grand Bornand and Sestriere.

That year, he won 7.37 seconds ahead of Alex Zulle and 10.26 seconds ahead of Fernando Escartin.
