Tinkoff-Saxo leader Alberto Contador cools off at the Vuelta a Espana with a cold bucket of water

Alberto Contador has joined the hundreds of celebrities taking the ice bucket challenge.

The Spanish Tinkoff-Saxo leader had the chilly vessel of water poured over his head during the Vuelta a Espana, after Sky’s Chris Froome challenged him to do it (see below).

The ice bucket challenge is a current social media phenomenon, originally started as a fund-raiser for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in the United States.

Contador would have been grateful for the cool-down as temperatures nudge 40 degrees celcius at the Vuelta.

Froome challenged Him Yesterday!! Think you may of got it wrong. Unless Contador did it back to him?

You´ve got it wrong. He was nominated by Chris Froome to do the challenge, not the other way around.

Was that really ice water? Not that Contador would ever cheat.
