Decathlon has a great reputation for great value products. But, does the low price correspond with poor quality? I'm happy to report that with the B’Twin 700 Warm Weather Mesh baselayer it doesn’t.

I have tested many baselayers, used by professional teams, including those from the likes of Rapha and Castelli. However it may surprise you to here that the B’Twin 700 Warm Weather Mesh baselayer is also used by a WorldTour team in the shape of FDJ.

The B’Twin 700 Warm Weather Mesh baselayer layer is a single piece, seamless construction with one size fits all sizing. It weighs slightly more than competing products from Castelli and Rapha, but this doesn’t translate to a hotter garment, with the open mesh design that allowing plenty of air in. I found the fit to be pretty good, with the fabric providing excellent stretch.

Regarding fit, it is slightly too long on me, to be optimum and the fabric doesn’t feel quite as soft as some more expensive brands. However, these are minor niggles that I can live with, especially when the low price is considered. As you would hope and expect, the quality of finish and materials are superior on Rapha or Castelli baselayers, but at £35 more in the case of Rapha, it should be. However there isn’t much in it and for those not wanting to spend premium prices the B’Twin 700 Warm Weather Mesh baselayer is a great product.
